All Standards welcome.

Lucan Harrier and Athletic Club has approximately 100 members at present, from 7 years old to senior athletes. We have coaches with a variety of skills covering the range of disciplines from road and cross country running to track and field events. We are always looking for new club members and new club coaches so if you would like to give athletics a try, or just want some help in getting fit, we are here to help.

Annual subscription is due between the end of Sept and January 1st each year, or within 3 weeks of their first training sessions with the club. Athletes who have not paid their membership fees are not covered for insurance purposes while using the track. Senior athletes should pay their membership fees to their respective club captain. Juvenile athletes should pay their membership to one of their coaches.

Suitable clothing should be worn, i.e. warm sports clothing, not jeans. Children especially should bring a bag with hat, gloves, drink (not soft (fizzy) drinks), rain jacket. Proper training shoes for any age-group help prevent injury. Any questions, queries, just ask our coaches.

Directions

Coming From Dublin City

By car: Driving on the main Galway road (N4) from Dublin City, coming towards Lucan, you pass by Lucan's texaco garage and the Foxhunter pub. Do not get off the motorway at this exit. Continue on the motorway until you reach the next set of traffic lights. Turn left at these traffic lights. You will pass Esker church on your left. Continue along the road until you come to a roundabout. Go straight through the roundabout. SuperQuinn should be on your right-hand side. Continue down the road (known as the Newcastle Road) for another 200metres and the turn in to Lucan's Esker track and our clubhouse is on the left hand-side.

By Bus: 25A from Pearse St. (Opp the Garda Station). Journey takes between 45 and 70mins depending on traffic. Get off the bus at the last stop (SuperQuinn). Track/clubhouse is across the road.

About Us

The Beginning

Lucan Harriers was established in 1978. One of our founding members is Tom Byrne, who's memory we celebrate every year with our Tom Byrne Memorial 5k Road Race.

Facilities

Lucan Harriers boast an All-Weather floodlit track situated in Esker, Lucan. Our new clubhouse (which we share with Weston Hockey Club and Hillcrest Football Club) contains changing rooms, showers, toilets, kitchen area and a storage area. The clubhouse was opened by Mayor Robert Dowds, South Dublin County Council and by Tanaiste Mary Harney T.D., Minister for Health and Children in Nov 2004.

Club Colours

We have changed the general design of our kit over the years but one thing that hasn't changed are the club's colours -- back and red. Today, the club vest is red with a black stripe going from hip to opposite shoulder.
